Disable hyperlinks in OS X Notes app

I find OS X’s Notes app to be a useful little tool, mainly because of it’s automatic syncing with iOS Notes and Notes on other Macs via iCloud. However the automatic hyperlinking was driving me crazy, and unlike almost every other OS X app Notes doesn’t have a ‘Preferences’ screen.

The answer is in the Edit/Substitutions menu! Disable ‘Smart Links’ and you’ll no longer be making fart noises every time Notes automaticlaly hyperlinks a URL.

No preferences, only substitutions in Notes.app
